I'm an Anthropology Ph.D. candidate at the University of California Davis - partnered with the Institute for Social Sciences and STS wing - writing up my thesis on the emergence and invention of User Experience in Silicon Valley. I spent three years conducting fieldwork as a UX researcher among a core group of ethnographic practitioners at Intel, and explore the ways in which this new language of power, coupled with the field of design, came to shape and inform competing utopian imaginaries of techno-solutionist futures across the valley.
