I am an applied anthropology MA student at San Jose State University. I also manage a small interdisciplinary team of industrial, UX, and graphic designers at a consultancy called Elemental8 .

My thesis research centers on my work with the FAIR Money research collective (www.fairnetwork.org) as a site where designers and anthropologists converge to tackle issues of financial inclusion. I am interested in practices and values within HCD-oriented organizations working on social impact projects, combining the lenses of development, economic, and design anthropology.

CoLED seems like an ideal venue for conversations on how anthropologists and social impact designers can learn from one another. I am interested discussing ways my two fields can work together to recognize and overcome their respective limitations and blindspots to address the intractable problems of global poverty and inequality.
