I am a Lecturer in the Cultural Anthropology Programme at Victoria University of Wellington. My research addresses the interlocking political and environmental questions emerging from Southeast Asia's breakneck urban transition. I am currently working on two ethnographic research projects: My book manuscript, Architects of Citizenship: Making Politics in a Northeastern Thai City, examines the intersection of participatory slum upgrading projects and emergent politics among residents of railway squatter settlements in the Northeastern Thai capital, Khon Kaen. My second project is a multi-sited ethnography of concrete, urbanization, and environmental politics in the wake of Thailand's devastating 2011 floods. I have published work in the Journal of the Royal Anthropological Institute, Contemporary Southeast Asia, Political and Legal Anthropology Review, the Journal of Urban History, and South East Asia Research. I am a co-founder of the Studio for Ethnographic Design.
